Mount Ballan Horse Trials (affiliated with British Eventing) is now in its' eighth year, and once again in 2009 it will be held at the David Broome Equestrian Centre, near Chepstow.
This year the Dressage arenas at Mount Ballan have been moved into a large field near the lorry park and as a result the Show Jumping will be held in the all weather arena.
Consequently the dressage tests will be in a more peaceful environment for young horses and cause less congestion than in previous years.

Eventing Disciplines for Intro, Pre-Novice & Novice Classes
This year the Dressage arenas at Mount Ballan have been moved into a large field near the lorry park and as a result the Show Jumping will be held in the all weather arena.
Consequently the dressage tests will be in a more peaceful environment for young horses and cause less congestion than in previous years.
The Cross Country course runs through the farm land surrounding the Equestrian Centre, and some of the parkland attached to Caldicot Castle, which is owned by Monmouthshire County Council.
Mount Ballan has three courses. There will be a combination of fixed and portable fences on flat and undulating ground and the tracks include a water complex and road crossings.
Eric Winter will be making improvements on the course for 2009. Dave Thompson and Simon Grundy are the cross country fence builders this year. The aerovator will be used in all areas if necessary.
